Cole

Thank you, Mr. Adams.

Nick

Mr. Adams you are awesome

Alex Dostaler

See above.

Ian

so if i studied
"To what extent did the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment attempt to free individuals from traditional authorities in 17th & 18th century Europe? Illustrate your answer with references to specific individuals and their works."
I would definitely get to write my paper on it?

wesleya

Nope.
You'd have a 50% of gettin it.
You're guaranteed that one OR the one on Optimism.

savannah

so real quick, are the views of voltaire and hume optomistic in the way that they think that anything can be proven by reason and that the bible isn't accurate?? or would you say that was not optomisic because they were against what the bible said??? or would that depend on the angle on which you looked at it?

sheepie the hippie

can u explain The Social Contract better than Kagan for me? all i got from him was that it was more complex than his other writings.

asdddffghhkhj

What exactly did Spinoza think about reason and religion(Judaism)? I thought it was kinda hard to understand in the book.

halle

Just making sure....what does it mean to have an optimistic view again?

halle

Just making sure....what does it mean to have an optimistic view again?

savannah

um, ok i m confused.... did kepler come up with the clock theory, or did newton.... i tried to find the answer online but it only confused me more

halle

so would adam smith be optimistic?

savannah

yes he is very optamistic, saying that the world would run its self if the gov was basically hands off

sheepie the hippie

can u explain The Social Contract better than Kagan for me? all i got from him was that it was more complex than his other writings.

Claude Debussy

If you want him to, sure. Smith advocated laissez-faire in economics because he believed maximum prosperity was achieved through economic liberty. That's a positive view of human nature.

His "positive sum game" view on economics meant that all of Europe could be rich. There's nothing to prevent them from prosperity except bad policy.

confused

what exactly did pascal do? or was it just his wager that we need to know?

savannah

k guys but who created the clock theory

kepler or newton?

Jess

i think the social contract is like the ones we have..where they make a set of rules and they have to agree to follow them....i think im not too sure

wesleya

don't worry about Rousseau"s political theory. Focus on his views of Women and children. EMILE

Claude Debussy is 1000% spot on

Newton

wesleya

Savannah, depends on how you want to spin it. The way you put it YES,

but Hume always pointed to the LIMITS of reason.

and voltaire attacked "the best of all possible worlds"

sydeny rowe

Do the people under human nature belong to the optimistic ideas or freeing people

savannah

thank you

jon lifferth

wesleya
